Marvel vs DC Character Matchup – Who Will Win?

Published

on

Every fan of Marvel or DC movies has one question that always comes to mind: “Who will win between Marvel and DC superheroes?” This question is relevant to people of all generations and age groups. Once a discussion about this begins, it doesn’t take long for people to engage in heated arguments over their favourite superheroes and their power in battle.
In this article, we will compare the superheroes from Marvel and DC, exploring the potential outcomes of a conflict based on how they are represented in the comics.

1. Quicksilver vs The Flash

Our first list of Marvel and DC superheroes will pit the two speedsters from both universes against each other. When discussing Quicksilver, he is categorized as a mutant who was born with his abilities. Flash, specifically Barry Allen, acquired his powers following an incident in his laboratory, which established a link between him and the Speed Force, granting him superhuman speed.

Let’s talk about their power; Quicksilver’s speed is capped at a maximum speed of 10 Mach, equivalent to 7,600 miles per hour. In comparison, Flash’s maximum speed is recorded at an impressive 10,925 Mach, or 8.3 million miles per hour. Therefore, Quicksilver would find himself in an embarrassing situation if he were to face the Flash.

Regarding their additional power, Quicksilver possesses super speed, which is largely the extent of his abilities. On the other hand, the Flash not only has superspeed but can also generate and control high-voltage electricity, and through the Speed Force, he can manipulate time itself. So The winner is The Flash.

2. Captain America vs Green Lantern

Captain America and Green Lantern both have the same story. Steve Rogers received the super soldier serum due to his goodness of heart and strength of character, while Green Lantern was selected to wield the power ring because of his humanity and determination.

In the event of a Marvel vs DC faceoff between Captain America and Green Lantern, Green Lantern would undoubtedly have the advantage over Captain America due to his superpowers.

However, if Captain America were to wield Mjolnir, as we see in Avengers: Endgame, Green Lantern could face an inespect situation. Assuming both characters are equipped with their generic weapons, namely the shield and the power ring, Green Lantern is more likely to win the fight.

3. Deadpool vs Deathstroke

Next in the comparison between Marvel and DC is the Merc with a Mouth against Gotham’s Terminator. Marvel has acknowledged that Wade Wilson was significantly inspired by Slade Wilson, also known as Deathstroke.

Deadpool is among those characters who possess the ability to teleport and time travel using Cable’s technology. The upcoming Deadpool 3 film revolves around this story. Should Deadpool and Deathstroke find themselves in a battle, Deadpool would likely have the advantage. Analyzing both characters, it is evident that Deadpool is virtually unkillable due to his regenerative powers. Meanwhile, Deathstroke experiences fatigue, lacks any superhuman abilities, and depends entirely on his combat skills.

Furthermore, a notable distinction between the two superheroes lies in their moral principles. Deadpool is indifferent as long as he accomplishes his tasks, whereas Deathstroke adheres to his own values, which can be a liability when facing an adversary as unpredictable as Deadpool. So Deadpool will win the faceoff.

4. Black Widow vs Black Canary

Black Widow and Black Canary have both notably different origin narratives. Black Widow was raised and trained in the Red Room to become a deadly assassin, while Black Canary was a highly skilled fighter who upheld her family’s legacy of heroism. Both characters have played crucial roles within their respective teams. Black Widow was a vital member of the Avengers, and Black Canary was one of the founding members of the Justice League of America.

If we ever see a battle between Black Widow and Black Canary, Black Widow may have an advantage in hand-to-hand combat; however, her stingers may prove ineffective against Black Canary’s sonic Canary Cry. So, this round is awarded to Black Canary.

5. Ant-Man vs The Atom

The upcoming comparison between Marvel and DC characters is a standoff between Ant-Man and the Atom. Both of these heroes can shrink and enlarge themselves significantly. Initially, Hank Pym and Ray Palmer assumed the roles of Ant-Man and The Atom, respectively, eventually passing the titles to their successors.

Both Ant-Man and the Atom have been rolled in the Avengers and the Justice League, but if they ever face each other directly, Ant-Man may hold the advantage due to his unique ability to command a literal army of ants. It is difficult to imagine any amount of strength being able to fight against thousands of angry ants charging forward. Given The Atom’s absence of such a power, it is likely that Ant-Man would win the battle.

6. Elektra vs NightWing

Elektra is one of the most exceptional hand-to-hand fighters that Marvel has ever created. The other one, Nightwing, is not only recognized as the top combatant but also as one of the most skilled tacticians and leaders that DC has produced. Elektra has undergone training in ninjutsu and is known as a lethal assassin, while Nightwing has received training from Batman and was previously known as Robin. He is one of the select few who can claim to have defeated Batman in combat.

In the event of a confrontation between Nightwing and Elektra in a Marvel vs DC scenario, Elektra has previously been bested by Marvel villains who have a similar aerial and acrobatic fighting style to that of Nightwing. Elektra sure is excellent at what she does, but Nightwing’s tactical prowess could present a significant disadvantage for her. Ultimately, in a battle between Nightwing and Elektra, we think that Nightwing will win.

7. Thor vs Wonder Woman

Both Marvel and DC have drawn inspiration from mythology to create their superheroes. Among these mythological figures, the most renowned are Marvel’s Thor and DC’s Wonder Woman. Thor is recognized as the God of Thunder and is the son of Odin. In contrast, Diana is the offspring of Hippolyta and Zeus, making her half-human and half-god.

Thor embodies the God of Thunder, possessing the ability to control, generate, and manipulate electricity at his discretion. His remarkable strength and agility render him the stronger Avenger. In the comic books, his most formidable weapon is the God Blast, which is powerful enough to destroy entire planets. On the other hand, Wonder Woman boasts superhuman strength and agility, enabling her to fight against Superman. She wields magical gauntlets and the Lasso of Truth, which she uses to subdue and defeat her enemies, and also has a high level of super speed.

If Thor and Wonder Woman find themselves in a battle, it will be epic, but in the end, Thor will stand victorious because his powers surpass those of Wonder Woman.

8. Hulk vs Atrocitus

Continuing with our comparison of DC and Marvel characters, we now turn our attention to those driven by rage. The Hulk represents Marvel’s rage-fueled beast, being the alter ego of Bruce Banner, who transforms into the Hulk following exposure to severe gamma radiation. In contrast, Atrocitus experienced the tragic loss of his whole family at the hands of rogue guardians, filling him with rage. He harnessed this anger to create the Red Lantern ring, which, unlike the Green Lantern’s power, derives its strength from pure rage.

While the Hulk has immense physical strength, his abilities are primarily based on brute force. On the other hand, Atrocitus leads the Red Lantern Corps and can create objects with his ring. He is notorious for his corrosive vomit, a lethal combination of Napalm and acid, and can fly, with his raw power significantly enhanced by his red power ring. He could easily propel the Hulk into the depths of space and suffocate him. So, this round is awarded to Atrocitus.

9. Captain Marvel vs Superman

The upcoming standoff is set between Captain Marvel and Superman, the Last Son of Krypton. Captain Marvel has cosmic abilities, superhuman strength, and the ability to fly. In contrast, Superman boasts extraordinary superhuman abilities, including superhuman strength, heat vision, freezing breath, super speed, flight, and X-ray vision.

It is evident that Captain Marvel is indeed mighty, yet she is unable to stand against like Superman. If the opponent were Thor, the situation would be different. Given that high-voltage electricity is one of Superman’s weaknesses, Captain Marvel, however, cannot even inflict a scratch on Superman. Therefore, should they ever engage in combat, Captain Marvel would be facing the full force of Superman.

10. Iron Man vs The Batman

Our final comparison between Marvel and DC superheroes is the two most iconic and famous characters from each universe, Iron Man and Batman. If we talk about Iron Man, it is essential to note his highly advanced technology and weaponry, which is powered by the Arc Reactor embedded in his chest, along with his exceptionally high IG.

On the other hand, Batman from DC has his own technology. He is renowned as the greatest detective in history, a master tactician, and is trained in every known form of combat, both armed and unarmed, while also boasting a high IQ.

It is essential to know that in a universe where Batman and Iron Man coexist, Batman already has a contingency plan prepared for Iron Man. The film Justice League: Doom (2012) illustrates this point, showcasing Batman’s contingency strategies for all members of the Justice League, which proved effective until Batman intervened. While Iron Man is equipped with superior weapons and technology, so are a lot of villains that face Batman.

When considering physical strength, it is crucial to recognize that Tony Stark is only Iron Man when he donned his suit; without it, he is vulnerable, particularly in hand-to-hand combat. However, Bruce Wayne does not require a suit to exhibit Batman’s combat skills. Even without his suit, Bruce Wayne is a master martial artist. Additionally, in many Batman comics, Bruce Wayne is depicted as possessing the Hellbat armour, which was forged in the sun by Superman and is made from nano-kinetic metal, equipped with technology developed by Cyborg. While Jarvis is certainly intelligent, he cannot match the technology created by the master of technology himself.

Now, we see that both possess the same skills, but in the end, we have to admit that one of them is superior. Based on the evidence presented in the comics, if these two were to face off, Batman would prevail over Iron Man in terms of physical combat, tactics, and durability. So, the victory in this confrontation belongs to The Dark Knight.
